‘Wine in Food’ odyssey with Chef Michael Swamy

Nine Hills Wine and Prego at Westin Pune invited us to be a part of Le Cordon Bleu Maestro, Chef Michael Swamy's 'Wine and Food'  7-city Odyssey. Chef Michael Swamy is the food consultant behind Master chef India season 1 and 2.

The evening started off with char-grilled courgettes with mustard vinaigrette dressing and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Although, the warm salad with its herbaceous flavor went well with the Sauvignon ,it was nothing spectacular.

After the salad ,we were served potato gnochhi with a creamy tomato sauce . The gnocchi went really well with the tangy sauce and it was exactly the way a good gnocchi should be; firm outside with a delicate and soft texture inside.

The next wine was Shiraz Rose and it was paired with two kinds of risotto; a wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil and a Porcini mushroom risotto. The risottos had the perfect creamy consistency and complimented the wine really well.

In between courses, Adrian Pinto, Seagram's Nine Hills Sr Manager Business Development , shared some facts about the wines and the growing wine culture in India.

The standout dish of the evening was the dessert, Passion fruit cheesecake which was served with Chenin Blanc. The cheesecake was rich in flavor and it just melted in our mouths and left us longing for one more bite.

All in all, it was an evening well spent with good food ,great wine and lovely people.
