HILTON SHILLIM ESTATE RETREAT & SPA

Some people love to backpack across the globe, while others like to get away from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives to relax amidst the unknown, beautiful terrains. For those of us who choose comfort and decadence over all else, Hilton Shillim Estate Retreat and Spa is the place to be. Nestled in the Sahyadri hills in a very quiet and picturesque location, its a perfect weekend getaway for Mumbai/Pune people who want to splurge.

The one and a half hour drive from Pune to the hotel is full of scenic spots surrounded by panoramic views of unspoiled forests ,seasonal lakes and a pristine landscape. The obscurity of the location is a blessing in disguise and is one of the best things about the retreat.

The first thing I noticed when I entered the resort was the minimalist architecture; simple yet elegant and the well-chosen subtle colors of the villas. The theme here is really about getting back to nature.

All accommodation at the property is in private villas and each comes with a butler service included. We took the King Spa Pool Villa. The large and luxurious villa has its own living room, heated private pool and a private deck. A buggy takes you to any place you desire to go on the property. The highlight of the property is the Spa, which offers over 150 types of treatments. Guests can also indulge in activities like paragliding, meditation, pottery etc.

The staff at the retreat is very courteous and the service is impeccable. When we were out for dinner, the staff cleaned up our villa and lit scented candles in the bedroom and around the poolside and kept some wine and chocolates for us. Such sweet gestures are the ones that make the guests' experience even more memorable.

The Terrazzo, the property's all day dining restaurant serves a wide variety of cuisines. The food is delectable. Nearly all ingredients used in the food are organic and grown and produced on the estate itself ranging from the honey to the marmalade. The restaurant offers mesmerizing views of the Western Ghats from its extensive patio. A warm and welcoming fireplace greets you in the nippy evenings at the retreat.

Overall ,The Hilton Shilim Estate Retreat and Spa was a memorable experience and I will love to go there again.
P.S. - Go for a walk in the eveningf or a jog in the morning to experience the serenity of the surroundings.
